1. Sending Physical Wood Samples<\/h3>\n

Wood samples are the lifeblood of The Wood Database! If you\u2019d like to contribute one or more samples, please keep the following in mind:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

2. Photos of Finished Wood Objects<\/h3>\n

It can be incredibly helpful to see a practical example of what can be made with a given wood species.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

What I’m looking for:<\/h2>
  • Any new wood sample that isn’t currently on the site.<\/li>
  • Commercially available woods from foreign countries.<\/li>
  • Anything extremely heavy<\/li>
  • Anything extremely light<\/li>
  • Unusual or interesting<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Caveats:<\/h2>
    • Any wood sample that is already on the site, with some exceptions\u2014such as if the grain, color, figure, or some other property of the wood is noteworthy or \u00a0deserving of special attention on the site (e.g., birdseye maple).<\/li>
    • Endangered species or trees that are otherwise illegal to cut down. (I hope to obtain samples of such species from already existing stock within the United States.)<\/li>
    • Samples that are significantly smaller than the specified 6″ x 3″ x 1\/2″ size.<\/li>
    • Overseas shipping can be costly, so I am unable to offer reimbursement of shipping charges unless an adequate amount of samples are sent (usually at least four to six) to make the shipment reasonably cost efficient.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
